I asked my mum what’s so great about being a grandmother, expecting an answer as simple as “why of course, that’s my grandson!”, instead she replied, “because everyone else around me has a grandchild!”
I know my mum hopes I find someone to marry. I will have to disappoint her as I’m not going to get married just because everyone else around my age is married.
As I mentioned previously, my workplace is into big data and quantitative statistics analysis. I am however working on some qualitative analysis which involves reading through the transcripts of interviews. The reading and analysis takes time, I guess that’s why qualitative research isn’t as popular in our field and I certainly get that feeling from my boss. Why did we include a qualitative interview study then if we didn’t intend to give voice to the participants? Because everybody was doing mixed method study at that time, or so I heard.

If you ever find yourself doing something just because everybody is doing it, for heaven’s sake, don’t do it. You’d look silly (watch video below) andΒ as this guy or bloke would say, “Don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd.”

Excellent post – loved the video, l used to watch Candid Camera all the time as a kid π

You’ve changed your face (I mean profile pic), I almost couldn’t recognise lol π
Thanks for reading, I was about to write this post when I read yours and thought, that’s perfect, we’re thinking along the same lines. π

A lot of times I refuse to do something just *because* it’s popular. It took forever before I read or saw Harry Potter because * everyone* loved it. I can be contrary and stubborn (big surprise there huhπ) and I refuse to be a sheeple. I’ll always be that goody weird lady doing silly things.
Great video (too bad it’s a commercial) Candid Camera was a fun show!

I know! It doesn’t make any sense to me, I don’t see the logic of doing something just because it’s trendy or wanting something just because everyone has it. It’s irrational!
I can be extreme stubborn too and would purposely not do something just because I don’t want to be a sheeple, I sometimes wonder if I could be diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder lolπ
You are the super-duper goody weird grandma everyone should have! Normal is overrated. We should be taught to feel comfortable in our own weird skin!π» π» π½

Loved the Candid Camera video! Although I would have felt a bit uncomfortable, knowing myself I would not have turned with the people and probably would have asked what they were doing : )

I wish someone had told me when I was younger that it was okay to want to be single for the rest of my life. Instead, it was, “You’ll change your mind later.” I mean, yeah, people change, situations change. But all that told me was, “Your need to be single is not valid.”

And this goes on to whether or not you have children. Some people don’t realize that this is a choice while others get judged for not wanting to have one.
What I learn is to just become quiet when I find that someone is not interested in listening to what I have to say.
